Inhaling more oxygen can increase your metabolism and trigger chemical reactions in our bodies, many of which result in weight loss.
Most of us take in only a third of the oxygen of which we are capable. Doing 15 minutes of deep breathing everyday helps your health and increases your calorie-burning by 140% over more strenuous exercise.
Deep Breathing & Posture
Whenever you are walking, standing or sitting, always lift up your chest and diaphragm. By doing this, you will constantly be using the most important muscles of the body. The key to firm muscles all over the body is "good posture". Keep a staight line from the chin to the toes. You may tire at first, but as you improve your strength and tone, these muscles that control the posture will not tire so easily. When doing deep breathing exercises, pick a warm room with good air circulation. Also, keep a glass of water or juice handy to rehydrate.
Start slowly at first to open lung tissue. Your lungs will hold six pints of air. If the lungs are filled with oxygen at all times, you will feel better, have more energy, be less fatigued, sleep better, and wake up more quickly.
Learning to control your breathing so that you take 6 to 8 long, full breaths per minute.
Why do deep breathing exercises?
- When you fill the entire lung with oxygen you burn poisons that could otherwise do damage.
- When you breathe correctly you add millions of health-giving red blood cells to your blood stream.
- Artificial stimulants are no longer craved when sufficient oxygen is taken into the system. Oxygen is the only stimulation that has no negative side effects.
- Deep breathing is a part of every cure. Even broken bones heal more quickly when the blood is purified by daily breathing exercises. Many nervous system diseases are due to lack of oxygen.
- Deep breathing tones muscles.
- Digestion ailments are prevented or cured by the internal massage of an expanding and contracting diaphragm.
- Slow, deep breathing improves circulation of blood to the heart.
