There`s a lot of age-reversing and fat-melting going on!

“Research now shows that more than 70% of premature aging – including midlife weight gain – is not the result of genetics, but of lifestyle choices,” says author Jay Williams. The 24 Hour Turnaround written by Williams holds many tips to reverse aging.

Even if you add only one of the following to your life, you ‘experience benefits`. And more you add, the more dramatic those benefits will be! Your best options are:

Triggering fat-burning enzymes to attack middle-age spread:

When you use your muscles in a low-intensity way – think strolling, not jogging – they burn fat by activating an enzyme called “hormone-sensitive lipase.” Research shows this fat-breaking enzyme activates after about an hour of walking, and then keeps burning fat for 12 hours. But there`s the best part: the more moderate exercise you get, the more hormone-sensitive lipase your body builds and the more active it becomes. So with a little walking, you`re turning your body into a fat-melting powerhouse.

Just make sure you don`t ruin the effects with any strenuous workouts. Turn out, high-intensity activity leaves our bodies filled with lactic acid, which accelerates signs of aging and stops muscles from burning fat.

On the treadmill going a slower pace, steadily, can bring dramatic results. You will be less exhausted, less hungry and burn a lot more fat.

Eating to burn calories like a teenager:

Begin eating smaller meals and adding more healthy snacks.

There is the `3/500` rule. Never go more than three hours without having a meal or snack, and never eat more 500 calories at one sitting. It`s an excellent guideline, says Tufts University researchers, who have evidence that eating smaller amounts more often will trick your metabolism into acting younger. One study found that older women who a 1,000-calorie meal burned off 30% less of the meal than younger women. But all women burned off 500-calorie meal equally well.

Making a skinny skin-saving switch:

If you`re the type who reaches for artificially sweetened drinks to save calories, stop that! Instead of getting a sweet fix with no strings attached, you`re setting yourself up to overeat. A soon as that sweet, diet-soda taste hits your mouth, your brain sends signals out to your body, saying that calories are on the way. When those calories never show-up, you get a sweet craving, and that`s hard to ignore. What is a solution? Drink food old-fashioned water. It won`t trigger cravings and, by preventing a metabolism-stalling effects of dehydration.

It will insure your body burns fat at peak efficancy. Healthy, young skin is another benefit of drinking 10 glasses of water a day. Try to work up to that amount. When you skin cells are supported with enough water, your complexion looks soft, clear and glowing.

Blocking fat and restoring lost energy with beans:

The humble bean is a double-duty super-food that`ll help make pounds and fatigue disappear. Beans are packed with fibre, which help to stabilize blood sugar levels and make you feel full. It can increase the weight you lose. Researchers have also found that people who ate an extra 14 grams of fiber every day – many varieties of bean have over 20 grams in a ½ cup serving – automatically began eating 10% fewer calories than they did before. Another bonus; because beans are the best source of folic acid, an energizing B vitamin, they have the power to make you feel like a kid again. In a recent study, test subjects receiving 400 micrograms of folic acid daily, not only experienced relief from fatigue and blues, but many became more active and lost with though they weren`t dieting! Any type of bean, can be thrown onto your salad.

Sampling nature`s own waist-shirking` hormone replacement therapy`:

As women come into our 30s and our ovaries start producing less estrogen, fat cells take over the job, scientists explain. Fat cells increase in size, number and ability to store fat – unless you`re eating plenty of soy! Here’s why: soy is rich in phytoestrogens, compounds that mimic the effects of estrogen in our bodies, reducing the need for fat cells to make estrogen. No wonder the average tofu-loving Japanese woman gains 66% less weight during her transition to menopause than the average American.

A Wake Forest University Bowman Grey study suggests that soy can also alleviate some symptoms of menopause that make us feel old – including hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings and anxiety. Separate studies show soy protects against everything from wrinkles to breast cancer and heart disease.

It`s so easy to add soy substitutes diet, says Williams. Just munch on roasted soy nuts or try soy substitutes for dairy products and meat.

Drinking a slimming, wrinkle-fighting miracle shake:

According to the USDA, grapes are among the 10 richest sources of substances called antioxidants, which have been found to protect us from signs of aging and reduce our risk of diseases ranging from cataracts to cancer. And … scientists have dubbed dairy products the latest weight weight-loss wonder after finding that dieters who three serving a day lose 61% more body far than those who don`t. Some women take 2 cups full of 2% milk in a thermos to the gym to have after a work-out.  There is nothing wrong with mixing grape juice with milk to make a milkshake.

Blueberries, kale, strawberries, spinach, brussels sprouts, plums, broccoli, beets and oranges also are top sources of antioxidants. A study done at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, found that people who choose more antioxidant-rich foods were less susceptible to wrinkles. And other research found that antioxidant eaters are leaner, too!

Turning on your body`s Fountain-of-youth hormone each night:

Make time for a least eight hours of sleep each night; and it won`t be just beauty rest, it`ll be slimming rest, too. Williams explains that this is because while we`re dreaming … our pituitary glands secrete HGH, the body`s anti-aging hormone, studies have shown a decline in levels of HGH – which happens naturally over the years – is linked to increased body fat, decrease energy levels, wrinkles and gray hair. A bonus: a ton of new research has shown that good sleep habits stabilize blood sugar levels, reduce the appetite and inhibit fat storage. Regular exercising helps one sleep better at night.

It`s time to start uncovering the fun, younger, slimmer you.

Lipase, now that's the word I was looking for. I also like the strolling. That makes sense actually. Great job.
